On the occasion of the jubilee of 625 years of paper manufacturing in Germany all employees of the companies of the WEIG-Group were invited to come to Mayen. Over 800 people from 6 German sites and from Paraguay were there, when Moritz J. Weig and Xaver Weig welcome the guest in the name of the owner family. The attendees were informed in various presentations and speeches about the History as well as the future direction of the group. Those who were interested could learn more about products and manufacturing processes within the business units RECYCLING, BOARD and PACKAGING by visiting information stands. Also presented: the group’s activities in Paraguay and the newly formed WEIG-Academy. Employees from various sites and units could get into contact with each other. A viewing of the modern, fully-automated high bay warehouse and the world’s biggest machine for plasterboard liner in the mill completed this “family event”.

In the afternoon, the doors were open for all interested stakeholders and persons from the region. Again the automated processes in the high bay warehouse excited old and young visitors. A specialists division of the local fire brigade showed the skills in rescuing people from great heights and kids could have fun in a playing ground and by making their own sheet of paper.

The WEIG group presented itself as a recognized, worldwide operating producer of recycled cartonboard for packaging and linerboard for gypsum panels, as a regional important recycling service provider and as a European wide present manufacturer of cartonboard packaging. By doing so WEIG also presented itself as an employer offering various and interesting job opportunities and apprenticeships in numerous professions.
